Baby

This beautiful little 7month girl from Jiangxi, China had
a very serious heart condition. In addition to having surgery,
she required a heart cath to determine the specific heart
defect.

Update: 1/24/06
Baby Yun just had heart surgery and it was a success!!! The
doctor said the surgery went so well, she is healed forever.
This child was very sick and we are all celebrating that she

Baby
Joseph
This sweet little baby from Guizhou, China has hydrocephalus.
His case has been reviewed by Chinese doctors and he needs
a CSF refenestration surgery to fix his shunt.

Update: 2/16/06
Joseph is scheduled for his shunt surgery next week, either
Monday or Tuesday. His caretaker has talked with the neurosurgeon
and has everything set up.
I will let you know as soon as I hear more. Thank you so very
much for helping this precious baby boy!
Update: 2/27/06
I have some wonderful news!!! Joseph arrived at the hospital
and upon examination by the neurosurgeon it was determined
that he is doing really well and is stable. The doctor recommended
that he not have his refenestration surgery at this time.
The doctor also performed a head CT and Joseph is actually
showing an improvement with cortical growth – more brain
tissue and less CSF (the fluid that the shunt drains away)
than 6 months ago.
Thank you so much for helping Joseph! We always love to get
news like this!!
Update: 3/6/06
I received this picture of Joseph during his stay in the hospital.
Thank you again for being part of his success story!
Sincerely,

Baby
Lan
This sweet baby girl from Anhui, China has small eyelids and
will have surgery to make them larger.

Update: 1/25/06
Baby Lan will have surgery after Chinese New Year. Waiting
for final update.
Update: 5/29/06
I just wanted you to know that Lan is scheduled for her eye
surgery on June 5, so she will soon be moving to the hospital!
Update: 6/09/06
I finally received a lot of information on Lan and why there
has been such a delay in her surgery. The orphanage brought
her to Hefei Children’s hospital in February, but they
weren't able to do her surgery. So then the orphanage took
her to Anhui Medical University. They also don’t have
a doctor that specializes in eye surgery, but the hospital
suggested that they wait for an expert named Dr. Zhao Li to
do the surgery. Dr. Zhao used to work at Beijing Concord Hospital
and was just recruited by Anhui Medical University Hospital.
He has the experience in doing this kind of surgery and is
an expert plastic surgeon/ophthalmologist. He is currently
in Beijing for an academic meeting and will be back on June
14th. They are hoping they will be able to get her scheduled
soon after.
Thank you so much for your support of this child. We will
keep working until we find just the right place and doctor
to do her surgery and I will keep you posted.
Update: 6/16/06
I just received updated pictures of Lan – she looks
like she has quite a personality! I will let you know when
her surgery is scheduled.
Lan is scheduled to move to Anhui Medical
University Hospital next Monday. We are so happy that she
will soon have surgery on her eye lids. I will keep you posted!
Update: 6/22/06
Lan looks wonderful! Thank you so much for changing her life!
You have given her the gift of sight!

updated picture of Ming! She is doing so well since her surgery.

Baby Miao
This sweet baby girl from Fujian has
a dislocated hip on the right side that needs to be surgically
corrected. Her surgery will cost $4000. Will you please help
her so she can walk? On 2/27/06 the funds we sent for Baby
Joseph that were not needed were reallocated to help Baby
Miao. We will continue to raise funds to help Baby Miao.

for an examination. The doctor suggests keeping her in brace
for a while longer. He will continue to check her and in about
6 months decide whether the bracket has corrected her problem.
We have received an updated picture of her that I have attached.
Thank you so much for helping her!
YOU have made a difference in her life!
